The UEFA Nations League starts this week for its third installment with Poland and Wales who will face each other on Wednesday as the curtain raiser of the competition. Gareth Bale and co will be looking for an early start in a tough group also containing Belgium and Holland, but they come up against a Polish side with plenty of class and experience.

NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?

It’s a tight game, so we turned to our Paddy Power Ambassador, Phil Thompson, to provide his expert insight into the proceedings. Can Poland’s main man Robert Lewandowski get his side three points or will Wales have the last laugh? That’s Phil’s best bet for the matchup…

Wednesday 1 June: 5 p.m. – Poland v Wales
UEFA Nations League
TV: Premier Sports 1/ S4C

It’s really hard to say because this game on Sunday against Scotland or Ukraine is going to be on everyone’s mind in the Wales team.

It’s the Nations Cup opener for Poland and Wales and when you have Belgium and the Netherlands in the group you think ‘it will be very difficult to get out of this anyway’ .

So what is most important for Wales? Probably Sunday’s World Cup qualifiers.

Poland beat Sweden in March, which shows they have a good pedigree, so I’m going for a Poland win, but I fancy Wales pulling something out of the bag and scoring.

So I’m aiming for a 2-1 win for Poland and I love this great man Robert Lewandowski. His destination for next year is still up in the air, but he has been a player.

Poland won 2-1
Robert Lewandowski will score anytime
