Accor is launching a new service allowing its loyalty members to book taxis and VTC via the ALL application or website.
The group has partnered with Renault group-owned technology platform Karhoo to offer the service to ALL members in 490 European cities, as well as Dubai and New York.
Members can earn points when paying for their reservation by credit card or choose to redeem points for the fare.
Accor said the service was designed to meet members’ needs for taxis and private rental vehicles both when traveling and for daily commuting.
Members can compare service providers in real time, and filter by price, waiting time, vehicle category (eg electric, petrol) and available extras (eg child seat).
Accor said its ultimate goal is to become “the first hotel operator to offer multimodal transport services”, with a gradual extension of its global coverage, and the eventual addition of “micro-mobility offers and vehicles shared”.
Group CEO Sebastien Bazin has previously spoken of his desire to expand Accor’s customer base beyond hotel guests to those who live around the hotel, stating that:
“It’s expensive for us to acquire a customer, so when you have him, why not stick with him and offer him something that could improve his daily life even if he doesn’t stay with you.”
Accorhotels plans the future of the hotel industry
The group cited research from the UN’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs showing that 68% of people will live in an urban environment by 2050, up from 55% now, and said these “city dwellers” will be less likely to own a means of transport.
Commenting on the news, Mehdi Hemici, Director of Loyalty and Partnerships at Accor, said:
“With the travel rebound, we wanted to provide a tangible home or away service for our ALL App users. This one-stop mobility solution is seamlessly integrated after your hotel booking.
“This allows our ALL members to book their transfer from the airport to their hotel or book a ride in their home town with their ALL points. Both practical and consistent wherever you are.
