Dogs left in hotel room + van stolen: Wauwatosa Police


WAUWATOSA, WI – Two dogs were found abandoned in a hotel room, two cars were stolen and there were multiple thefts over $1,000 from March 11 through Thursday, according to police department crime records of Wauwatosa.

Here are highlights from police records from March 11 through Thursday.

Thieves get away with a van

A Wauwatosa woman reported her Dodge Caravan stolen on March 11, police said. The van was taken from an apartment parking lot in the middle of the night, and police do not know who took the car.

In a separate incident, three people, including a minor, stole a Kia Soul from the Mayfair Mall car park on March 12, police said. The car was taken without the keys, but thieves broke the passenger side window before driving off.

This is the third Kia stolen in March 2022.

Dogs left behind in hotel room

Police found two abandoned dogs Thursday in a hotel room on W. North Avenue, police said. The person renting the room was identified and two glass pipes used to smoke methamphetamine were found.

Burglars rob kiosk at Mayfair Shopping Center

Two unidentified men stole $1,271 worth of merchandise from a Mayfair Mall clothing stand on March 11, police said. They drove off in a car with no license plate attached.

Two unidentified individuals stole $1,659.52 worth of merchandise from the Meijer store at 11111 W. Burleigh St. on March 12, police said. A police officer pursued the suspects, but it is unclear whether any arrests have been made.

Police arrested a man who stole merchandise from Macy’s at 2500 N. Mayfair Road on March 14. All goods were returned, valued at $1,755.49.

License plate stolen, license plate found

A Wauwatosa woman reported that one of her license plates was stolen while her car was being repaired at a Mayfair Road dealership on Wednesday, police said.
