SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Excitement builds around Scranton’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in just over two days. Hotel rooms are almost booked for the weekend and restaurants are getting ready.

“As a company, as a patron of the city, as a citizen of the city, I would say that enthusiasm would be an understatement. We couldn’t be happier to have the show back in full force,” said Dee Desai, Senior Director of Sales at Hilton Scranton & Conference Center.
Hilton Scranton is ready for people to celebrate their Irish heritage. They offer a no cover, live band, outdoor and indoor space, plenty to drink, and more.
“We have all kinds of unrest here. We sell a lot of guesthouses and the streets are full, the bar is full, the outside is full so everything is full for sure,” Desai explained.
Desai says the hotel is almost full for the parade weekend.
Other Scranton hotels like the Radisson Hotel are 85% booked. You’ll be more likely to find a room farther from the city center as parade day approaches.
Restaurants are preparing for a crowd. Pizza by Pappas is at the end of the parade route. Right next to the courthouse square.
“We realize it’s a party day and luckily there seems to be a fun atmosphere here,” Sheakoski said.
Co-owner Bill Sheakoski says the parade hasn’t been held in March for three years. It’s hard to gauge what business will look like.
