July 2021 Sneak Peek: Over 40,000 Rooms to Launch This Month [Infographic]

A look at the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database shows that the hotel industry is having a busy month, with particularly strong growth in Europe and North America.

In July 2021, an impressive total of 234 hotel programs with 42,052 rooms will open their doors to guests, according to our dedicated research team. We are learning more about these upcoming launches.

Growth regional markets in July 2021

Europe will see the largest increase in operating hotels, with 83 openings involving 12,210 rooms. North America follows closely with 73 projects in the pipeline, collectively representing 12,558 keys. When comparing the number of rooms side by side, it quickly becomes apparent that properties in North America will be slightly larger on average than those in Europe.

Elsewhere, the APAC region comes in third with its 47 new hotels and 11,421 keys. The fact that several countries in the region are currently grappling with significant new outbreaks of Covid19 could be the reason for the slightly slower pace of openings, which is generally equal to or greater than that of Europe and North America .

In the Middle East, 17 establishments with 2,876 rooms will soon welcome customers. Nine hotels with 2,255 keys are set to open in Africa, while five projects and 732 rooms are about to land in Latin America.

Main national and urban hotel markets growing in July 2021

The United States tops the list of top domestic growth markets with 62 projects and 10,091 keys.

Another big hitter, the UK, comes in a very distant second place, with 19 properties and 2,808 rooms preparing to go live. However, its capital London is actually leading the urban growth markets, with eight hotels and 1,968 keys almost ready to go, placing it just ahead of New York, where seven projects with 1,538 rooms will soon debut.

China occupies third place in the national ranking with 16 hotels en route. And to complete the top five, Germany and Spain will see 14 and ten projects completed, respectively.

Key brands expand in July 2021

Located on Piotrowska Street, Europe’s largest pedestrian thoroughfare, Hampton by Hilton Lodz City Center will be surrounded by the 19th century architectural heritage of Lodz. Located within a mixed-use development, the 149-room hotel will benefit from a privileged position within walking distance of major shops, restaurants and cultural venues. It will include a functional fitness area and a 24-hour bar area, which will also offer snacks.

Elsewhere, the Four Seasons Resort and Residence Napa Valley – nestled among the valleys, mountains and vineyards of northern Napa Valley – will feature its own winery and hand-cultivated vineyard, providing an unprecedented experience from grape to drink to resort guests. In addition to its 85 rooms, the project will also include one- and two-story villa-residences managed by Four Seasons. Resort amenities will include three unique dining offerings, multiple swimming pools, a fitness center, and a world-class spa featuring natural geothermal waters unique to the Calistoga area.

Finally, the JW Marriott Charlotte is on its way to becoming the first JW Marriott hotel in North Carolina. When completed, it will include 381 rooms and a large outdoor terrace housing a swimming pool and a contemporary bar with outdoor seating. There will also be a Spa by JW, an executive coworking lounge, a bar that connects directly to the plaza and adjacent businesses, a grand ballroom of over 5,100 square feet, a junior ballroom totaling 2,400 square feet and nearly 7,000 square feet of additional lounging space.
