A Lyft driver has been arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her hotel room and then stealing hundreds of dollars from her.
Samuel Bucevschi, 35, was arrested on Monday for sexual assault of an incompetent victim, grand larceny and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, according to an arrest report.
The alleged incident happened on February 10, when the woman ordered a Lyft around 1 a.m.
Bucevschi, from Coconut Creek, picked her up and took her to a bar on Washington Avenue, and the woman said Bucevschi gave her his phone number so she could call to pick her up later , according to the report.
The woman said she had had several alcoholic drinks and the last thing she remembered was going to the bar, according to the report.
When she woke up around 10 a.m. in her room at the Eden Roc on Collins Avenue, she was completely naked and found that her cell phone, ID card and $500 cash had disappeared, according to the report.
The woman contacted Miami Beach police and said she believed she was raped in her hotel room, and went to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s rape treatment center, according to the report.

Samuel Bucevschi, 35, was arrested on Monday for sexual assault of an incompetent victim, grand larceny and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, according to an arrest report.
Detectives used Lyft records to identify Bucevschi as a suspect and discovered that several more Lyft rides from Bucevschi had been requested that morning through the woman’s account which she had not created or authorized, totaling around $300, according to the report.
When detectives reviewed hotel surveillance footage, they showed the victim being transported to the hotel by Bucevschi around 4:30 a.m. that morning, the report said.
About an hour later, the video showed him leaving his room with two cellphones, according to the report.
“The victim does not recall returning to her hotel room. CCTV revealed that the same driver who picked her up is seen on CCTV returning to the hotel room with her, carrying her in because she seems too drunk to step on hers,” Miami Beach Police Department spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said.
Bucevschi was questioned by detectives and said he remembered picking up the woman, but said she was acting strange and possibly intoxicated, according to the report.
He said he accompanied her to her hotel room but left and said “nothing happened,” according to the report.
Bucevschi declined to give a DNA sample, according to the report.
During a court appearance on Tuesday, Bucevschi was posted on $520,000 bond. Attorney information was not available.
“Security is fundamental to Lyft. What is depicted is horrendous and driver access to Lyft has been permanently removed,” a Lyft spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday. “We have contacted the motorcyclist to offer him our support and we have contacted law enforcement to offer our assistance in their investigation.”
The arrest comes about a week after another Lyft driver was arrested for allegedly raping a drunk Miami Beach tourist in his car.
