A man has denied raping a woman three times in a hotel room in Plymouth.
Brett Bullock, 29, told a jury they had consensual sex and fell asleep in each other’s arms.
He added that he was woken up by the police, arrested and questioned – what he described as a “horrific experience”.

The woman, then 18, told officers that Bullock forced himself on her and then had sex with her as she slept in her room at the Copthorne Hotel.
She told her trial at Plymouth Crown Court that she was too scared to leave the room and only escaped when he fell asleep.
The woman said she made it clear she did not want after-hours party sex with the accused.
Bullock, of St Anne’s Road, Newquay, pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape in the early hours of August 2, 2019.
He said that at the time he frequently toured with a band and also worked in the auto business.
Bullock, taking the helm, said he was also known as Brett Buddy.
He said he met the woman in the late afternoon and he said they went to pubs around the Barbican and sat by the water on the Hoe.
Bullock said he booked a room at the North Cross Hotel after he got too drunk driving home.
He added that the teenager was aware of the reservation and had gone home to get a duffel bag.
Bullock said they got closer by going to Walkabout, Union Rooms, then Fever and Boutique.
He added that they held hands and kissed in the nightclub.
Bullock said: “It was so obvious that we were more than friends, with the hugs, the kisses and the holding hands.
“She made it very clear to me that she wanted to come back with me. I never said she had to come back. I said she could grab her bag and go.”
The defendant said he had drunk around eight pints of lager but said he was “in full control of his actions”.
Bullock added that they started kissing in his hotel room around 3:30 a.m.
He said: “It was absolutely clear that we weren’t just friends anymore, that this was going to lead somewhere.”
Bullock said she took off her top and bra and they had sex.
He added: “We went to bed cuddling as far as I can tell and fell asleep.”
Bullock was woken up by the police and complained that the officers had called him “shit”.
He added: “I told the mental health nurse that I was suffering from anxiety and depression. I was dealing with a horrible situation.”
The trial continues and the jury is expected to come out and consider the verdicts tomorrow.
