The Bangladesh Embassy in Poland is preparing to receive Bangladeshi expats who are desperate to settle in Poland as Russia started attacking Ukraine this morning.

“We have asked the Polish authorities to grant visas to Bangladeshis as they said traveling to Poland will require visas. We have also asked our people in Ukraine to get visas as soon as possible,” the ambassador said. from Bangladesh to Poland, Sultana Laila, at the Daily Star today. .

She said the embassy would also provide travel permits to those who do not have a passport urgently.

“We have had discussions with our Ministries of Finance and Expatriate Welfare that accommodating Bangladeshis coming from Ukraine would require funding. In addition, we have also had discussions with the Bangladeshi community in Poland about it to deal with the emergency,” said Sultana Laila.

According to her, some 1,500 to 2,000 Bangladeshis live in Ukraine, and most of them are students. The embassy advised them to go to safe places, if not outside Ukraine.

“We are in contact, via email and WhatsApp, with around 500 Bangladeshis. We are also asking others to join these groups and update the information instantly so that we can make the right decision at the right time,” she said.

The ambassador said the embassy held a meeting with the Bangladeshis in Ukraine last night and gave the necessary instructions, instead of being panicked.
