Polish President attends inauguration of “Poland-Qatar Economic Round Table”


Polish President Andrzej Duda attended the inauguration of the “Poland-Qatar Economic Round Table” on Sunday, with the participation of HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Abdullah al-Thani.

Organized by the Chamber of Qatar, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Doha, the roundtable brought together the participation of the CEO of the Qatar Investment Promotion Agency (IPA Qatar), Sheikh Ali Alwaleed al- Thani, as well as a number of business leaders. people, investors, managers and representatives of large Qatari and Polish companies specializing in various fields.
Roundtable debates included a panel discussion and presentations on the business environment in Qatar and Poland. Discussions also focused on the investment opportunities available to companies and business people, in addition to highlighting a number of investment sectors available in the two countries.
The round table aims to strengthen trade, investment and industrial cooperation between the two countries. It also aims to open up horizons of communication between representatives of the Qatari and Polish private sectors to establish investment projects that serve the interests of both countries.
In a statement, the Qatar Chamber said Duda called on Qatari businessmen to explore the investment climate in Poland, especially in the following sectors: aviation, IT, communications, agriculture and food, among others.
The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Qatar, Rashid bin Hamad al-Athba, praised the close relations between Qatar and Poland “in all fields”, stressing that the two countries “wish to develop these relations towards more prospects. wide ”.
Al-Athba was referring to the visit of His Highness Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Poland in 2017, which resulted in “fruitful conclusions”. He said the business forum, which was held on the sidelines of the visit, helped to further activate the economic and trade relations of the two countries and opened wider fields of cooperation in the private sector.
According to al-Athba, the volume of trade between Qatar and Poland “has tripled in the past five years”, from QR 650 million in 2015 to QR 2.65 billion last year. At the end of the third quarter of 2021, it stood at QR 2.8 billion, he said.
Regarding mutual investments, al-Athba said that there are many Polish companies operating in contract, design, technical services, health and consulting industries in Qatar. He said there were many Qatari investments in the hospitality and industrial sectors in Poland, stressing that Poland “is an attractive destination for Qatari investments”.
On the sidelines of the meeting, three memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed between Qatari and Polish companies to strengthen cooperation in several sectors. The companies that have signed the MoUs are the Qatar National Convention Center and the Polish Trade and Exhibition Center, the Qatar-based and Polish-based technical services group ZPUE Wloszcowa, as well as Qatar-based Edraq and Poland-based AIDA Diagnostics. .
