Doha: President of the Republic of Poland HE Andrzej Duda called on Qatari businessmen to invest in his country and learn more about the investment climate in Poland.
He was addressing the Qatar-Poland economic roundtable held yesterday at the Sheraton Hotel in the presence of the Minister of Trade and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani and the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Qatar Rashid bin Hamad Al Athaba.
Qatar Airways Group CEO and Qatar Tourism Chairman SE Akbar Al Baker and Qatar Investment Promotion Agency (IPA Qatar) CEO HE Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al Thani were also present at the meeting alongside a number of board members of the Qatari Chamber and businessmen from both countries.
President Duda underlined the key role played by the Qatar-Poland Business Council which was formed last year in promoting relations between the two sides.
He also said that Qatar and Poland are among the most dynamic countries in the world, noting that they have strategic relations and that Poland imports 2.1 million tonnes of LNG from Qatar, reflecting that Qatar is a strategic partner of Poland. President Duda underlined that Poland is full of investment opportunities in various sectors such as aviation, IT, communication, agriculture and food.
He expressed the hope to see a greater Polish participation in the infrastructure projects that are being implemented in Qatar to achieve the QNV 2030, stressing the readiness of his country to exchange its experience with Qatar in the organization of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
For his part, Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba spoke of the close relations between Qatar and Poland in all fields, stressing that the two countries wish to develop these relations towards broader perspectives.
He referred to the visit of Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Poland in 2017, which ended with fruitful conclusions, noting that the Qatar-Poland Business Forum held on the sidelines of the visit has helped to further activate the economic and commercial activities of the two countries. relations and opened up wider fields of cooperation in the private sector.
Al Athba also said that the trade volume of the two countries has tripled in the past five years, from QR 650 million in 2015 to QR 2.65 billion last year, when it reached 2.8. billion QR until the end of the third quarter of the current year. Regarding mutual investments, he pointed out that there are many Polish companies operating in Qatar in partnership with Qatari partners in various sectors such as procurement, design, technical services, health and consulting. .
He said that there are many Qatari investments in Poland in various sectors such as hospitality and industry, stressing that Poland is an attractive destination for Qatari investments.
The QC second vice-president underlined the Chamber’s readiness to strengthen the cooperative ties between the Qatari business community and its Polish counterpart, urging companies from the two countries to strengthen their cooperation, establish joint ventures and cooperate. in projects that benefit the economies of the two friendly countries.
He pointed out that the State of Qatar provides a suitable environment for business, stressing that it offers world-class infrastructure, attractive economic legislations and incentives for foreign investment in the presence of numerous free, logistic and industrial zones that offer promising opportunities. for investors.
For his part, Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al Thani made a presentation on the investment climate in Qatar and the potential offered to Polish investors.
From the Polish side, Pawel Majewski, CEO of Polish Oil and Gas Company gave a presentation titled “Energy security and the future of the regional gas market”, while Beata Daszynska-Muzyczka, CEO of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego gave a presentation on “Poland and its region – opportunities for Qatari investors under the Three Seas initiative”.
On the sidelines of the meeting, three memoranda of understanding were signed between Qatari and Polish companies to strengthen their cooperation in many sectors. The Qatar National Convention Center and the Polish Trade and Exhibition Center, the Qatar-based Technical Services Group and the Polish ZPUE of Wloszcowa and Edraq based in Qatar and AIDA Diagnostics based in Poland have signed the MoUs.
