Scanfil’s Sieradz plant to switch to 100% fossil-free electricity

The Scanfil plant in Sieradz in Poland has signed an agreement to switch to 100% fossil-free electricity. As of January 1, 2022, the Sieradz plant will be CO2 neutral in its electricity.

The Sieradz plant is one of Scanfil’s largest plants and has an annual electrical energy consumption of approximately 3,700 MWh. If this amount of energy were produced with coal, it would create almost 3,850 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

“By changing the energy source of our electricity, we can have a significant environmental impact,” says Mats Lindblad, Manager of Quality Systems at Scanfil. I am happy to see that we are moving quickly and reducing our environmental impact.

Scanfil and all its factories are committed to improving their operations also from an environmental point of view. Sieradz is now the fourth plant in Scanfil’s network of factories to use only non-fossil electricity.

“The eagerness to take environmental action is high at our production sites. All of our factories are contributing to Scanfil’s common goal, and we will achieve our goals sooner than expected, ”continues Mats Lindblad.

Scanfil has set itself scientific goals for significant reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 35% between 2020 and 2030, assuming that its organic growth remains at the level current. The company is also committed to ensuring that its energy consumption is at least 50% fossil-free by 2030.

At the current rate, Scanfil will reach its target already before 2030.
