The nine four-part FLIRT XL vehicles will be used on the new regional express line RE9. This line has improved travel times between Berlin Airport and Szczecin by around 20 minutes.
Additionally, they will operate on the RB66 line from Angermünde to Szczecin and on some seasonal line extensions.
“We are proud to be able to again develop and build trains in Berlin that are used in the region. Equipping with the state-of-the-art Guardia train protection system helps reduce journey times and thus significantly improves connections.
FLIRT XL units will have extra long bodies and space for approximately 380 passengers, including 255 seated. The trains will have five doors on each side of the vehicle to allow passengers to board and disembark vehicles efficiently.
In addition, four multipurpose areas will be able to accommodate up to 21 bicycles, strollers or wheelchairs per train.
