Asia once again topped the ranking of countries with the most powerful passports, according to a report by the Henley Passport Index.

The index is an annual passport power ranking determined by the number of destinations a passport holder can enter without a visa and is based on data provided by the International Air Transport Authority. It includes 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations. Scores are based on the number of destinations passport holders can travel to without a visa.

Japan, for the fifth consecutive year, remains at the top of the list, with Japanese passport holders able to visit 193 visa-free destinations, two more than last year’s report.

Singapore and South Korea are tied for second place, both having access to 192 countries. Behind them are Germany and Spain, giving access to 190 countries.

Passports from 20 other countries offer better access than the United States, four more countries than last year. The United States held on to seventh place along with Belgium, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland.
