NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Peacock Room – the energetic and vibrant cocktail bar located in the heart of the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot in New Orleans’ CBD – will host some of the city’s most beloved artists for performances throughout February, offering hotel guests and locals plenty of opportunities to experience incredible music in this beautiful space. And as always, Happy Hour is the perfect time to stop by the Peacock Room every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3-6 p.m. for drink specials.
Da Lovebirds, led by contemporary jazz singer and “New Orleans songbird” Robin Barnes, will continue their popular residency, filling the venue with mind-blowing tunes every Thursday from 8-10 p.m. The romance will continue to hover in the air on Sunday evenings in February, from 7-9 p.m., with the beautiful music of singer and musician Rachel Murray.
Sunday is also Jazz Brunch time at the Peacock Room, and talented trumpeter Jelani Bauman doesn’t disappoint. The New Orleans native comes from an impressive line of musicians spanning five generations, and among his many accomplishments (notably at Madison Square Garden) he plays with Rihanna, Ravi Coltrane, Ellis Marsalis, Robin Eubanks, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and more. The Jazz Brunch takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Peacock Room will host a number of other unique pop-ups and events this month. In addition to the special Valentine’s Day event at the Peacock Room on February 14 with free lip-readings from the fortune teller, scrapers, music from Da Lovebirds and a special menu prepared by the Executive Chef Chris Lusk, there will also be a great reason to invite your friends over and head to Peacock the night before for Galentine’s Day Brunch. On Sunday, February 13, Galentine’s Day Brunch and Jazz Brunch will meet for a special event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., which you can reserve your spot for through OpenTable here. Later in the evening, Rachel Murray will perform.
Music, and jazz in particular, is infused into the soul of the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot. You hear it in the hall. You see it depicted in the artwork that adorns the walls, from hand-painted violins to a composition of trumpet and trombone mutes in tribute to King Oliver and Louis Armstrong. And of course, there’s the hotel’s ongoing partnership with The Roots of Music, which empowers the city’s youth through music, support, and mentorship.
The bright colors, ornate patterns and rich textures of Peacock Room create the perfect ambiance for a musical evening (or brunch). While learning about some of the city’s best musicians, patrons can also enjoy a contemporary selection of exceptional, hard-to-find spirits and evocative craft cocktails, such as The Royal Court, which is made with Gray Goose vodka, ginger, grapefruit, ube and vanilla; or the Four Armed Tea Rex, which serves 4 people and is made with Hendrick’s Gin, Träkál, loquat, tulsi tea, whey and citrus. And for those hungry, Executive Chef Chris Lusk’s menu features refined shareable interpretations of regional classics, including items like Crawtator Crusted Oysters with Jalapeno Sriracha, Mirliton and Bacon Lardon; the ever-popular Peacock Burger and the twice-baked bread pudding. New menu items include Grilled Steak with Twice-Baked Potatoes, Mushrooms and Chimichurri in Hot Sauce and Shumai Shrimp Dumplings with Fermented Black Beans, Dried Andouille and Sauce spicy-sour.
Seating in the Salon is available and space for these performances will be available on a first come, first served basis. Meal reservations are encouraged via OpenTable here.
