Wichita pastor will travel to Poland to donate medical supplies

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A pastor from Wichita is traveling to Poland to distribute medical supplies to Ukrainian refugees in the coming days.

New Life Wichita founder Chad Pickering was introduced to this journey through his son, Josh. Josh told his dad he was making the trip. Since then, Chad says his son has been able to pack three planes full of medical supplies.

When the invasion of Ukraine began, Chad Pickering said one thought kept going through his mind: “What it would be like to hug and kiss my wife and kids and then send them back hoping someone would make sure they were safe.” and cared for. »

In addition to her son’s supplies, Pickering is also making final preparations to bring additional medical kits to those in need in Poland.

He says bandages and other supplies in medical kits are sorely lacking: “You have men in Ukraine who are fighting to protect their homes and their country. Most of them aren’t soldiers, and especially right now, they’re just cut off from all the supplies they need. They said this is one of the most important things they need to be able to treat wounds as quickly as possible.

Pickering believes this would not have been possible without the many donations from the church.

“We almost got $30,000 in donations right here in Wichita, and another 60 to 70 of these med kits that cost about $60 each,” Pickering explained. “At this point, right now, we’re just gathering as many financial resources as people want to contribute.”

If you would like to donate, you can click here. In the drop-down list, just change it from “General” to “Ukraine”. Pickering says 100% of the money donated will go directly to Ukrainians in need.

Pickering will be in Poland for 10 days distributing supplies. Her son, Josh, would end up being there for over three weeks, helping those in need.
