Woman FaceTimes Her Sister From The “Absolutely Dirty” Adelphi Hotel Room

A woman who booked a surprise stay for her sister and partner at the Adelphi was horrified after seeing the room she was given.

Leanne, who wanted her last name not released, booked the Adelphi Hotel for her sister Libby and Libby’s partner as a surprise to thank them and allow them to visit family in Liverpool.

After working through the pandemic as a caregiver, Leanne said she wanted to do something good for her sister, but ended up being a ‘horrible’ experience.

She told ECHO: “My little sister and I have both worked through the pandemic. She works days and I work nights and she helps me take care of my little boy. to thank you, i wanted to book her and her partner a little getaway.

“We now live in Norfolk, but we are from Liverpool and have family here, so I thought it would be nice if they came back to our hometown.

“I was originally going to book the Dolby Hotel, but thought that would be out of place, so I changed my mind and booked the Adelphi instead because it’s right in town and that everything is close.

“She arrived on Monday and was placed in a room but the window was all cracked and there was a hole in the ceiling with a trash can underneath.

“The trash can was covered with water as if there had been a leak and was also covered with trash.

“In the bathroom the towel rack was peeled off the wall and just sat on the floor. They went to complain and were given another room which was smaller but just as bad.”

After complaining about the condition of the second bedroom, the couple were assigned a new bedroom.

Leanne, from Toxteth, added: “The window was all cracked and the bed linens were so dirty. It was all the first day and she was put in another room.

“I faced her that night and she didn’t look happy at all. Outside the room there were holes in the ceiling.

“I called the hotel myself and the team leader said he would sort another room. They were taken to another floor and in the hallway there were care packages left in front of the doors, which made people panic about quarantining themselves.

“The manager said that was exactly how they would do things now after Covid.

“Another thing they’re doing because of Covid is using paper cups. So my sister went down to get a paper cup and got one with a lid on.

“When she returned to her room, she took the cover off to use it and it was absolutely dirty. It was really disgusting, just crappy.

“She then went back to the main office for a cleaning up and they apologized and said it must have been mixed up.

“How does that get mixed up when it’s a paper cup and needs to be thrown straight into the trash. It looked like someone had just taken soup out of it.”

Leanne says that despite several attempts to contact Britannia Hotels, owner of the Adelphi Hotel, she has received no response to the complaints filed.

ECHO contacted Britannia Hotels and received no response before publication.
